The Beginning

It has recently come to my attention that someone has attempted to change the zodiac. I have news: I'm a Scorpio, end of story. (And, by the way, Pluto is still a planet.)

Welcome to my new blog where I shall discuss whatever I happen to feel like discussing. Thus is the beauty of the internet :)

  1. Yes,I am still a Libra and Pluto is still a planet. There was a category on Jeopardy tonight "Pluto: Never Forget" and it made me smile.

  2. Mainstream astrology is based on the Ptolemaic system, with updates to reflect recent discoveries, like Neptune and Uranus becoming rulers of Pisces and Aquarius. All astrologers are aware that the Sun signs in use today no longer correspond to the position of the constellations in the sky at the moment of birth. However, the house system, which is a relatively recent development, was introduced just for that. The houses reflect the actual position of the constellations. So, while your Sun may be in Scorpio, it is very likely that your Sun is in House IX (Sagittarius). The interpretation would be that the tenacity of Scorpio is applied to the domicile of Sagittarius - high learning.

However, it is only since the 1930's that the Sun signs became prominent. The Ascendant was previously thought as the more important placement in the chart. The tools of modern astrology allow us to interpret a fuller personality by looking at the placements of the planets, the Sun, Ascendant, fixed stars, and in the last 30 years even asteroids.

  3. hm, interesting...
Pluto was assigned to Scorpio, until they decided to take it away at which point they gave Scorpio over solely to Mars. (I'm still a fan of Pluto)
From what I've read about Scorpio it seems to be a very good fit but maybe I'll check out this domicile Sag stuff you're talking about.

    Thanks for the info :)

  4. Until the discovery of the telescope in the 1700s, there were only 5 discovered planets in our solar system. Each of the planets ruled 2 signs, the Sun and Moon, having been considered luminaries by the ancients, each ruled one sign, for a grand total of 12. Mars was the ruler of Aries and Scorpio, as the planet of energy, argument and aggression. Then, in 1930, Pluto was discovered. Astrologers had theorized that other planets exist since the discovery of the giants in the 18th and 19th centuries. In fact, there are vestiges of these ideas - we use a theoretical planet called Lilith or Black Moon, to interpret the negative influences on the character (this is not very widespread). In any case, in mainstream astrology, Pluto is still a planet, just like the Sun, Moon and Lilith are considered planets, thought they are not. Pluto is still the ruler of Scorpio. In fact, as we have discovered other prominent bodies - like Ceres and Chiron - we may be getting closer to finding a ruler for Virgo, which is still co-ruled with Gemini by Mercury.
